Looking to get your CDL?

Employers in Tillamook County and within the United States are reporting a great shortage of trained truck drivers. To help meet the needs of local employers, Tillamook Bay Community College offers a Truck Driver Training Program*, which trains students to take both the written and driving portions of the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) test. To date, 98% of students who have completed the training course have gone on to earn their CDL.

Entry-level driving positions are often available at Zwald Transport for those who have recently earned their CDL.

*The program consists of four weeks of training including both classroom and driving time – as well as time on the state-of-the-art truck driving simulator – that prepares students for local, high-wage jobs. The cost of the program is $5,000 plus additional fees associated with a CDL license (approximately $460). Grants, loans, and scholarships are available to help cover the cost.

TBCC has also partnered with Clatsop Community College and Oregon Coast Community College to provide CDL training to students residing in Astoria to Newport, Oregon. TBCC also offers a one-week CDL refresher course for those who are returning to a career as a truck driver. Contact the CDL Program Coordinator to learn more.
